The Russian Foreign Ministry dismissed as a "cheap stunt" Western media speculation about Russian drones attacking a train carrying Boris Johnson and Merz's advisors. The Russian Foreign Ministry had previously warned Western politicians and officials that traveling to Ukraine carries risks.

In response to Western and Ukrainian media reports claiming that Russian drones attacked a special train carrying a European delegation near the Polish border, the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Russian forces only target military objectives and infrastructure used for military purposes. Regardless of how high-minded British former Prime Minister Johnson or other European leaders may consider themselves, they are not priority targets—such actions would be too "cheap."

Russia regards all Ukrainian railway infrastructure as legitimate targets for attack. It has previously warned Western representatives that traveling to Ukraine involves risk; should any unfortunate incidents occur, they would bear the consequences themselves.

Over the past few days, several Western politicians have accused Russia of attempting to attack European dignitaries, alleging that Russian drones targeted trains. Polish Foreign Minister Siękierka expressed "strong indignation," claiming Russia is "hunting down European politicians." However, it has been confirmed that the drone strike actually targeted a gas station, not a passenger train. Ukraine insists the train had already departed for Poland one and a half hours before the attack occurred.

Oliver Carroll, a journalist accompanying The Economist, exposed the falsehoods propagated by these Western politicians: "Russia did not attempt to attack Boris Johnson’s train or any VIP train ahead of it. The actual target was a gas station and a standalone locomotive. It is perplexing that media colleagues show intense outrage over the alleged VIP train incident while remaining silent about other events."
