Tuesday, before arriving in The Hague for the NATO summit, Trump posted on his social media platform a private message from NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte full of praise.

"Mr. President, dear Donald, congratulations and thank you for your decisive actions on the Iran issue, which is truly remarkable, something no one else would dare to do. This has made all of us much safer," Rutte wrote in the message, "Tonight you will once again achieve great success in The Hague. Although it was not easy, we have already convinced everyone to agree to the 5% plan!"

"Donald, you are leading everyone towards a crucial moment for the United States, Europe, and the entire world. You will achieve an accomplishment that no U.S. president in decades has been able to reach," he added, "Europe will make significant contributions - they should, and this will be your victory. Safe travels, see you at the king's dinner!"

A NATO official confirmed that the message was genuine, sent when Trump was departing for the NATO summit.

Regardless of whether it is against regulations to publicize private messages, the efforts of government leaders and senior officials behind the scenes to please Trump can be seen from the tone of these messages.

Trump left the G7 leaders' summit early, and whether he would attend the NATO summit remained uncertain until the last minute. Rutte designed the entire summit around Trump, arranging a relaxed agenda and a state banquet with the Dutch king.

Rutte, who previously served as the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, worked closely with Trump during his first term. Their relationship was good, and Rutte was even often called Trump's 'whisperer.'

For this meeting, Rutte's primary goal was to ensure Trump clearly supported NATO Article 5. This clause requires member states to defend each other from attacks, and Trump had previously questioned this core principle.
