Asahi Hayano's facial expression control has broken down again: suddenly gaping her mouth wide while walking alongside Australia's Prime Minister
Another batch of photos showing Asahi Hayano’s failed facial expression management has surfaced — this time released by Japan’s Prime Minister's Office.
Recently, the Japanese Prime Minister's Office posted multiple sets of images on its official website depicting Hayano’s visit to Australia and meetings with Australian officials.
Compared to the exaggerated, almost uncontrollable expression she displayed during her meeting with former U.S. President Trump, the photos selected for release this time appear more restrained overall — yet still failed to avoid moments that sparked public backlash.
For example, in a photo of her meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Hayano wears an expression that seems overly intense and loaded with meaning;
And in another photo showing her walking side by side with Albanese, Hayano inexplicably opens her mouth wide, her expression appearing extremely awkward and out of place.
To be fair, most of Hayano’s diplomatic appearances since taking office have followed this pattern. She seems to believe that using exaggerated facial expressions and physically getting close to foreign leaders can quickly bridge gaps and create an atmosphere of intimacy.
However, such over-the-top performances often backfire. Instead of demonstrating professional diplomatic demeanor, they repeatedly trigger controversy and accusations of embarrassment — even Japan’s online right-wing community, traditionally supportive of Hayano, found themselves unable to defend her after seeing these photos.
