Mongolia and South Korea to Expand Cooperation on Migration and Visa Policies

Mongolian News Agency, Ulaanbaatar, February 25 - According to the Immigration Agency, the foreign ministries of Mongolia and South Korea held the twelfth consular consultation meeting. Within the framework of this consultation meeting, both sides discussed elevating cooperation in migration and visa policies to a new level.

Director of the Mongolian Immigration Agency, N. Ugbatseren, raised these issues during a meeting with the Director of the Department of Foreigners' Affairs of the Ministry of Justice of South Korea, Chae Yong-ho, in Seoul. The Mongolian side proposed close cooperation with the Department of Foreigners' Affairs of the Ministry of Justice of South Korea to streamline the South Korean visa review process, relax conditions for medical tourism visas, and prevent illegal stay.

At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to introduce a dialogue mechanism between the immigration departments of Mongolia and South Korea - "Immigration Dialogue" - in order to legally and safely promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries and strengthen cooperation. This mechanism will help promote reforms in the border and immigration management systems of the two countries and negotiate and seek solutions to problems arising from the mutual travel of citizens. In addition, both sides decided to implement a personnel exchange program between the two institutions.
