Korean Media: Tesla Sales Surge in Europe!

On May 4, South Korean media outlet Keonhui Economic Daily published an article stating that electric vehicle sales in Europe saw a significant increase in March, with Tesla recording a strong rebound in the region after more than a year of decline. Notably, Tesla's sales in France surged over threefold, approaching the highest level in nearly two years.

Data released by the French Automobile Association shows that the number of new Tesla vehicles registered in France in March reached 9,569 units—a staggering 203% increase compared to the same period last year, nearly matching the historical high of 9,572 units recorded in December 2023.

In Norway, Tesla vehicle registrations in March reached 6,150 units, up 178% year-on-year. In Sweden and Denmark, registrations rose by 144% and 96% respectively, reaching 1,447 and 1,784 units.

This is interpreted as a sign that Tesla’s electric vehicle sales in Europe have resumed their recovery trajectory.

Last year, due to intensified competition from Chinese brands, lack of new models, and negative public sentiment triggered by CEO Elon Musk’s political activities, Tesla’s market share in Europe had once shrunk by half.

Since the introduction of more affordable Model Y and Model 3 variants in both the U.S. and Europe toward the end of last year, Tesla’s vehicle registrations in Europe have gradually risen starting from February.

In a statement last month, Tesla explained that a surge in registrations at the end of the quarter is a normal phenomenon due to vehicle shipping logistics.

Thanks to the sharp rise in registrations during March, Tesla’s registration volumes in France, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark grew by 108%, 95%, 48%, and 50% respectively in the first quarter.
