In a post on his Telegram channel, political scientist Maxim Zalov wrote that the international political landscape in the coming days is presenting quite an interesting situation.
On June 14, against the backdrop of the "Los Angeles crisis" within the United States, Democrats will "pressure" President Donald Trump — protests named "No Kings" will be held nationwide. On June 15, a "critical" round of negotiations between the U.S. and Iran regarding the "nuclear agreement" should take place in Oman. Zalov said that to push Iran (to reach an agreement), the U.S. and Israel (once again) created media panic, claiming that an attack by Israel on Iran is "inevitable."
Zalov believes: "Therefore, this situation is less about whether a great war will break out in the Middle East and more about how Trump will extricate himself from it. Forcing Trump to ultimately take a side — this is the main goal of those orchestrating this situation."
Zalov concluded that U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Whitcomb's quip that "Trump might make an excellent Israeli prime minister" actually carries a deeper meaning — "Trump, which side are you on?"
