Shoygu: Sending peacekeepers to Ukraine could trigger World War III
Sergey Shoigu, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, believes that if Western countries deploy their peacekeepers in Ukraine, it could trigger World War III. He feels that these forces should more appropriately be called invaders or occupiers, as European countries only want the resources of Ukraine.
TASS cited the security council secretary as saying, "These will be the same NATO countries' troops that Russia opposed before the start of the special military operation. The special military operation largely arose due to this threat - the deployment of NATO military infrastructure in Ukraine, on our historical territories."
Shoigu reminded that before the start of the special military operation, the British were actively building a naval base in Ochakov (Nikolaev Oblast). There, not only were they training the Ukrainian Navy's special forces, but they were also carrying out operations against Russia.
He believes that under the guise of peacekeeping missions, Western forces will be able to re-establish a foothold in this territory. It is likely that Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, was hinting at exactly this when he claimed that Ukraine had the right to invite NATO troops without Russia's consent.
