Korea is preparing to propose a visa proposal to the United States after the scandal involving Hyundai Motor workers
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea announced that the Ministry has established a working group to address the visa issues for South Korean citizens traveling to the United States. This issue originated from the detention of South Korean workers at a Hyundai Motor factory in Georgia, the United States.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: "The Ministry established a government working group on Thursday to address the U.S. visa issues. The working group consists of agencies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups." Notably, the Federation of Korean Industries and the Korea Small and Medium Business Association will also join the working group. The discussion will plan to listen to opinions from business representatives and develop necessary measures.
According to the statement, visa reform recommendations will be developed based on the results of the working group's work, and subsequent negotiations with the U.S. side will be conducted.
