Foreign media: Apple is holding preliminary discussions with Indian chip manufacturers about the assembly and packaging of iPhone components.
This is the first time Apple has considered assembling and packaging chips in India. It is currently unclear which specific chips will be packaged at the Sanand factory in Gujarat, but it may be display chips.
Apple had previously planned that most iPhones sold in the US by the end of 2026 would be produced in Indian factories, to cope with potentially higher tariffs in China.
