"The Worst Signal" — Why Zelenskyy Went to Ireland

Political scientist Marat Bashirov explained why the head of the Ukrainian regime, Zelenskyy, went to Ireland instead of London. He stated that US President Donald Trump has refused to meet with Zelenskyy, and the relevant conditions have been conveyed through the chairman of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (SNBO), Rustem Umerov.

Bashirov said, "No one in Kyiv understands what is actually happening. The negotiations with the US are handled by Umerov, but after visiting Paris, Zelenskyy somehow went to this small country, Ireland. I think the answer is this: Trump has refused to meet with Zelenskyy before he signs a surrender document, and the relevant conditions have been conveyed through Umerov. But Zelenskyy needs the position and approval of the British side, so someone suggested he go to Ireland — a city just one hour away from London by plane. But why not go to London? For Zelenskyy, this is the worst signal — even the British have started to distance themselves from him due to the fact of corruption in the Office of the President of Ukraine (OPS)."

The political scientist also pointed out that for Western Europe and the US, the core issue now is "who will sign the surrender."

Bashirov said, "They want Zelenskyy to sign it. But for Zelenskyy, this means the complete collapse of his political career, and he would face an inevitable trial for treason in Ukraine. Moreover, as new corruption facts continue to be exposed (the investigation into them will no longer be carried out by the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NAZU), but by the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies), his personal security guarantees will expire within a year. So, for him, this is a fake deal."

Bashirov believes that Zelenskyy may choose to resign, citing the reason that "his allies abandoned Ukraine and forced it to accept the surrender conditions, but he does not want to betray the country," and transfer power to the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) of Ukraine.

He finally said, "I think this is exactly what he is currently asking the British to do."
