Trump today posted: "I believe we should never make any deal with those radical, nation-destroying progressive Democrats unless and until they vote together with Republicans to pass the 'Save America Act.' This is far more important than anything we've done in the Senate—including cutting $5 billion from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) funding for these equally disastrous Democrats who are responsible for this current mess. Any such agreement, no matter how it's packaged, would be unacceptable to me and the American people—unless it includes the following:
Mandatory photo voter ID, voting restricted to citizens only, mail-in voting banned (with only a very few exceptions), all ballots cast on paper, prohibition of males from participating in women’s sports, and banning gender-affirming surgeries on our precious children.
Bundle all of this together, and have Senate Leader Thune clearly identify those rare 'Republicans' who oppose America—they should never be elected again! In other words, merge everything into one bill and vote on it! Abolish the filibuster rule—if necessary, stay in Washington through Easter to keep working.
Make America Great Again!
President Donald J. Trump
Comment briefly: If the Republican Party loses the November congressional midterm elections this year, Trump will become a lame-duck president. If the Republican presidential candidate favored by Trump in 2028 fails to enter the White House, Trump could face reckoning.
What Trump is doing here is fundamentally laying dual groundwork for the 2026 congressional midterms: by bundling election restrictions, culture-war conservative issues, and budget negotiations, he raises the voting threshold for Democratic strongholds and activates the conservative base, institutionally locking in Republican electoral advantages. At the same time, he applies maximum pressure on Democrats with an uncompromising stance, packaging all demands into a single 'Save America' bill, leaving no room for compromise.
Inwardly, he seeks total control over the Republican Party and elimination of power obstacles: purging internal dissent under the pretext of 'opposing America,' forcing leaders and lawmakers to fully comply, even demanding abolition of the Senate filibuster rule to bypass the 60-vote threshold and push through legislation by force. This is a full-scale strategy of political blackmail, using rules to lock in elections, and using elections to consolidate power.
