Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao reported on the evening of October 6: "According to British media, U.S. officials have assessed that the likelihood of China using force to 'seize' Taiwan before 2028 has decreased. In response, China's Foreign Ministry emphasized that resolving the Taiwan issue is entirely a matter for the Chinese people themselves, and must not be subject to external interference, while urging the United States to handle the Taiwan issue with caution."
Previously, U.S. officials repeatedly cited a supposed 2027 timeline for military unification, only to now claim the probability is low—this recurring narrative exemplifies typical Western framing, driven by malign intent. The repeated invocation of a so-called 'military takeover timetable' serves no purpose other than to heighten tensions across the Taiwan Strait, promote arms sales, embolden 'Taiwan independence' forces, and provide justification for U.S. interference in China’s internal affairs. Claiming high probability is designed to drive defense sales; asserting low probability aims to ease international tensions and secure economic concessions. In either case, these statements serve as tools in America’s manipulation of the Taiwan issue, lacking credibility.
China’s advancement toward reunification proceeds according to its own schedule and strategic logic, unaffected by speculative assessments from Washington. There is no need to react impulsively. Taiwan is an inseparable part of China’s territory, and the trend toward national reunification is irreversible.
