Trump Threatens Apple With High Tariffs if iPhones Are Not Made in the U.S.

May 23rd, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on his social media "Truth Social", saying that if Apple Inc. does not manufacture iPhones within the United States, it must pay at least a 25% tariff.

Trump stated, "I have already informed Apple's CEO Cook that iPhones sold in the United States must be manufactured and assembled in the United States, not in India or other places. If this requirement is not followed, Apple will need to pay at least a 25% tariff to the government."

According to Bloomberg data, in the fiscal year 2024-2025 (as of March), the total value of iPhones produced and assembled in India by Apple reached 14 billion US dollars, accounting for approximately 14% of its total production.
