230 Russian Rubles Found in Epstein's Safe
Among the foreign currency cash found in the safe of financier Jeffrey Epstein, who is charged with sexual exploitation, there were 230 Russian rubles.
According to RIA Novosti, an image released by the U.S. Department of Justice on Tuesday showed the cash seized from Epstein's safe. It included three 10-ruble bills and two 100-ruble bills.
The photo also included six 100-euro bills, 640 Swedish kronor (notes of 50 and 20 kronor), 10 Swiss francs, and 480 pounds.
The U.S. Department of Justice began releasing documents related to the Epstein case on November 19, shortly after President Donald Trump signed a related document to publicize the law. On December 20, Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, joked that people wanting to view the decrypted files on the U.S. Department of Justice website had already formed a long queue.
In January 2024, the first set of documents containing the names of more than 150 people involved in the case in various forms was released.
