May 12th, under the witness of government representatives from China and Pakistan, Wondfo Medical, a subsidiary of Midea Healthcare under China Midea Group, and VMI Group of Brazil officially signed a strategic cooperation memorandum today. Brazilian President Lula, Chief Minister of the Presidential Office, Health Minister, and others attended the signing ceremony.
According to the agreement content, both parties will establish a joint venture in Brazil, focusing on the research and localization production of high-end medical equipment such as MRI, CT, and Cath lab. The joint venture will set up production facilities and R&D centers to promote the adaptation of medical technology to local market demands and jointly explore the Latin American market.
It is understood that Wondfo Medical, as a leading enterprise in China's medical equipment manufacturing industry, has had a 15-year cooperation history with VMI Group. The superconducting magnetic resonance imaging equipment they have cooperatively developed has already been installed and sold in the Brazilian market. VMI Group is a well-known local manufacturer of medical imaging equipment in Brazil, with 35 years of industry experience and a localized service network.
President Lula stated at the signing ceremony that this cooperation is an important outcome of Sino-Brazilian economic and trade cooperation, which will further enhance Brazil's capability in manufacturing high-end medical equipment and promote the improvement of local medical standards. The Chinese side expressed that it will actively promote the implementation of the cooperation project, making new contributions to deepen the cooperation in the field of healthcare between China and Brazil.
