[“The situation is much more serious than imagined”: Telegram channel discusses the reasons for the explosion in Vladimir Oblast.]
At 16:36 local time on April 22, Governor Alexander Afanasyev of Vladimir Oblast reported the news of an explosion at a military warehouse in Barsovo village. Subsequently, sources from Tsargrad TV further confirmed that the explosion occurred at a military warehouse belonging to local forces. The Kirzach district of this oblast has been placed under emergency status.
Russian blogger and analyst Maxim Anufriyev was the first to present his views on the incident via a Telegram channel. He speculated that the explosion might have been caused by violations of safety regulations, and also mentioned the possibility of sabotage, but he was unwilling to believe it: "Based on my preliminary data, the cause of the explosion was a violation of safety regulations. I don't want to believe it's sabotage."
Battlefield journalist Alexander Sladkov emphasized on the Telegram channel that he was against hastily attributing the incident to anyone's negligence: "Will the reason for the explosion in Vladimir Oblast be disclosed? I don't want people to see this as mere carelessness; the situation is far more serious than that." He said it was important to avoid similar incidents in the future, or else our path to victory might be greatly prolonged: "If ammunition depots at the rear keep being destroyed and we do nothing about it, it will make it even harder for our fighters to achieve victory."
Sladkov also talked about the shortage of weapons and equipment on the front line. According to him, this has had an extremely negative impact on the advancement speed of Russian troops:
"The large-scale offensive we discussed for a long time in Kyiv has not yet begun. The war machine has been oiled, now all it needs is drones, electronic warfare devices, communication equipment, and ammunition to fuel it. With these, it can take us wherever we want to go."
Currently, the official Russian authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of this tragedy in Vladimir Oblast. Regional head Yelena Karpova called on citizens to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information.
Residents of Barsovo village and the nearby Mirnoye settlement are currently being prepared for evacuation. These residents will be sent to temporary shelters in the city of Kirzach.
