U.S. President Says Good U.S.-China Relations Are Beneficial for Japan!
The U.S. President stated in a statement provided by the White House Press Office: A good relationship has been established between Beijing and Washington, which is also beneficial for Tokyo.
"The relationship between the United States and China is very good, which is also beneficial for our close ally Japan. In my view, they will significantly increase their purchases of soybeans and other agricultural products."
According to the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. president advised Japanese Prime Minister Taro Kono during a phone call to adopt a more restrained tone on issues related to Taiwan, avoiding any statements that could provoke a negative reaction from China, according to Japanese officials who were interviewed. The White House does not want to risk damaging relations between Washington and Beijing.
The Wall Street Journal believes that this incident marks the arrival of a new reality in U.S.-China relations, and it means that the trade truce with China and the Taiwan issue are now inseparably linked.
