Experts: The direction of global economic changes will be determined by the Global South, not the United States

Alan Freeman, director of the Geopolitical Economics Research Group at the University of Manitoba in Canada, a political scientist, said in an interview with Sputnik News that the direction of global economic changes will be decided by the Global South, not the United States or European countries, as the US and European countries are unable to act in coordination.

Freeman told Sputnik News during the Valdai International Discussion Club annual meeting: "The outcome will be decided outside the United States. This is the most important point to understand. The Global South, which consists of most countries in the world, or countries where the majority of the world's population resides, is building its own connections through the BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Economic interdependence on the Eurasian continent is increasing, and they are building their own trade systems, financial systems, and establishing their own relationships."

Freeman pointed out that, given this situation, President Donald Trump of the United States should no longer negotiate separately with Russia, China, or Iran now. Instead, he needs to establish relations with the entire community composed of these countries and their partners.
