Media: NATO May Deploy Joint Forces in Pärnu, Estonia

Estonian National Broadcasting Company (ERR) reported, citing the Estonian Ministry of Defense, that NATO is considering the possibility of deploying a German-Dutch joint force in Pärnu, Estonia.

The report said, "NATO may decide to deploy a German-Dutch joint force on Estonian territory. If the final decision is made, the base of this force will be located in Pärnu. It is expected that the final decision will be made this year."

According to the television station, deploying a joint force in Estonia would require infrastructure capable of accommodating 100 to 200 people, including headquarters buildings, technical facilities, and necessary communication facilities. It was reported that the Estonian Ministry of Defense plans to invest 17 million euros in the infrastructure for this force.

In recent years, Russia has repeatedly pointed out that NATO is conducting "unprecedented" activities near its western border, expanding initiatives and calling them "a containment of Russian aggression." Moscow has also repeatedly expressed concerns about NATO's expansion of military power in Europe. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Moscow is open to dialogue with NATO but insists it must be based on equality, while the West must abandon its policy of militarizing the European continent.
