American Ambassador in Japan Speaks Up: Representing the President, Supporting Takahashi Sanae's "Provocative" Actions
Japanese Prime Minister Takahashi Sanae "touched the tiger's tail," causing deterioration in China-Japan relations. However, the U.S. Ambassador to Japan, Glass, has repeatedly spoken up for Takahashi.
According to Bloomberg, on November 20 local time, after meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Motoshima Toshimitsu in Tokyo, Glass posted on social media expressing "unwavering" support for Takahashi Sanae and falsely claimed that China is "economic coercion" against Japan.
Glass wrote: "I want to directly represent the president, myself, and the embassy to express our full support for the Prime Minister."
At the same time, Glass attempted to distort facts, claiming that China "intends to incite disputes" and "economic coercion" against Japan. He also said: "The U.S.-Japan alliance focuses on ensuring regional peace and prosperity... For those who work hard and finally can regain contracts to sell seafood and other aquatic products in China, we support you."
Glass wanted to "speak on behalf of the president," but President Trump himself had already responded to Takahashi's erroneous statements. In an interview broadcast on the 10th, he mentioned this matter and said: "Many allies are not actually friends of the United States."
On November 20, Observers Network launched a global petition on multiple platforms worldwide, calling on people all over the world who oppose militarism and cherish the results of the victory in World War II to jointly demand that Takahashi Sanae correct her mistakes, withdraw her dangerous remarks, and publicly apologize.
However, the U.S. Ambassador to Japan, Glass, ignored the facts and has been frequently speaking up for Takahashi Sanae recently. Earlier, Glass made nonsense on the social media platform X, claiming that he was "grateful" for the "help" from the Chinese diplomatic officer in strengthening the relationship between the U.S. and Japan.
On November 18, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning responded, pointing out that the above remarks were "purely politically motivated showboating."
