Orbán suggests that the EU and Russia should negotiate on the future security system of Europe

Russian State News Agency Budapest, October 04 - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in an interview with Hetek News website that Hungary suggests the EU and Russia should negotiate on the future security system of Europe, and Ukraine will not be the main issue.

Orbán repeatedly emphasized that only through negotiations between Russia and the United States can peace be achieved in Ukraine, while Europe missed the opportunity to mediate because it failed to ensure the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

He said: "Hungary suggests that the EU and Russia should negotiate on the future security system of Europe. Ukraine is also part of it. What we need to negotiate is not about the Ukraine issue: it is an important but not the most important issue. The most important issue is how to ensure a safe and reliable life, without terrorism and war, not in Ukraine, but throughout Europe, a Europe that can also bring economic prosperity to European citizens."

Orbán pointed out that the situation where part of Ukraine's territory belongs to Russia and the rest completely relies on Western support can only be resolved through diplomatic means, as "this situation cannot last long."
