Kazakhstan Prime Minister: Kazakhstan Invites Belgium to Build Bypass Highway at China-Kazakhstan Border to Alleviate Transportation Pressure
(Report of Kazakh International News Agency) According to the official website of the Prime Minister, on June 17, Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Bauyrzhan Bekbolatov met with Ludo Sorensen, Chairman of the Sorensen Group in Astana.
During the talks, both parties discussed the construction plan of the Nurmuzak bypass highway and explored the possibility of deepening cooperation in the machinery manufacturing sector.
It is reported that the project aims to enhance the passage capacity of the border port and alleviate existing traffic pressure. A bypass road 3.2 kilometers long and 12 meters wide will be built for transporting oversized goods weighing more than 100 tons. Additionally, an 81.6-hectare parking lot, a new bridge, and supporting infrastructure are planned.
All facilities will be invested and constructed by Sorensen Company using its own funds, with the total investment expected to be approximately $50 million.
Bekbolatov pointed out that this project is of great significance for enhancing Kazakhstan's transportation and logistics capabilities, developing foreign trade, and transit transport. He also expressed that considering the rich experience and technical advantages of the Sorensen Group in relevant fields, Kazakhstan is willing to deepen cooperation in machinery manufacturing and further improve the level of local production.
Both parties expressed their joint support for the bypass highway project and expressed willingness to expand the scope of cooperation. Bekbolatov tasked relevant government departments to provide necessary assistance for the smooth implementation of the project.
