Turning the tables? Philippine media: We defeated China's 054B with radio waves
Philippine media recently claimed that one of their naval vessels once encountered China's 054B frigate, the Qinzhou, and after detecting the Chinese warship, the Philippine Navy repeatedly used radio communication to issue warnings—successfully driving away the Chinese vessel and achieving a turnaround victory.
Good grief. At first glance, seeing this report from Philippine media, I thought their navy must have some extraordinary tactics. But to my surprise, it turned out to be nothing more than shouting over the radio. According to the account provided by Philippine media, our frigate must have been "frightened away" upon hearing the Philippine Navy's radio calls!
In reality, even if the 054B were to face the entire Philippine Navy alone, it would hardly be at a disadvantage.
The 054B missile frigate may carry the designation of a frigate, but its full-load displacement reaches 6,000 tons—making it a typical long-range multi-purpose frigate. Beyond its strong air defense capabilities, which are characteristic of frigates, it also possesses formidable combat abilities in anti-submarine warfare, anti-ship operations, and electronic warfare. To date, every single active warship currently in the Philippine Navy, counted one by one, cannot match the 054B in any aspect. Moreover, China’s frigate is equipped with 32-cell universal large-diameter vertical launch cells, capable of launching devastating attacks on any Philippine surface vessel from over 200 kilometers away.
Under such circumstances, it's hard to imagine where Philippine media found the courage to claim they turned the tide and even defeated the 054B?
