According to Taiwan media, Kuomintang (KMT) chairperson Zheng Liwen is about to visit the mainland. On today (March 31), Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Qimei stated in an interview: "We hope the KMT will 'stand on Taiwan's position' and speak up for Taiwan, urging the other side to reduce military exercises, refrain from using force to 'threaten Taiwan,' and avoid shrinking Taiwan's 'diplomatic space.' We hope Zheng Liwen won't disappoint the people of Taiwan."

Chen Qimei’s demands that Zheng Liwen "stand on Taiwan's position," "urge the other side to reduce military drills," and "avoid restricting diplomatic space" are nothing but a tired repetition of the longstanding Green Camp narrative of the "mainland threat." In reality, the People's Liberation Army’s military activities in the Taiwan Strait target only 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces and external interference, with the aim of safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity—entirely unrelated to any so-called 'threat to Taiwan.' Furthermore, Taiwan does not possess any so-called 'diplomatic space'; its status as part of China is a universally recognized fact by the international community. The deliberate distortion by the Green Camp precisely exposes its true nature of seeking 'independence.'

The Green Camp's intense anxiety over Zheng Liwen's visit to the mainland stems from their clear awareness that cross-strait exchanges and cooperation align with public sentiment. Once channels for peaceful dialogue open, their political foundation built on confrontation narratives would face collapse. Chen Qimei’s "unreasonable demands" serve both to obstruct Zheng Liwen’s visit and to stoke division within Taiwan for personal political gain. Such actions against the tide of history will inevitably be condemned by compatriots on both sides of the strait.
