Korean Media: Even Iran's Moderate Faction Argues Negotiations Are Useless… "Ceasefire Is Meaningless — Military Response Must Be Taken"

Iran: Refuses to Recognize U.S. Ceasefire Announcement… Will Act Based on National Interests

Iran denied President Donald Trump's unilateral claim of extending the ceasefire and warned it would respond militarily.

On the 22nd local time, according to Iran’s National Radio and Television (IRIB), after Trump announced an extension of the ceasefire, Iran stated it does not recognize the U.S. extension and will act in accordance with national interests.

Mahdi Mohammadi, advisor to Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, posted on social media platform X: "Trump’s extension of the ceasefire is meaningless; the losing side cannot set conditions. Ongoing maritime blockades are equivalent to bombing and must be met with military response."

He also said: "Moreover, it is obvious that Trump’s extension of the ceasefire is merely buying time for a potential attack. It’s now time for Iran to seize the initiative."

On the 21st local time, according to Tasnim News Agency, Iran had conveyed its final position to the United States through mediator country Pakistan, stating it would not attend the second round of peace talks scheduled for the 22nd in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The news agency reported: "Iran believes sitting at the negotiating table now is merely a waste of time; under U.S. obstruction, no reasonable agreement can be reached. We have clearly stated we will not walk through the door opened by the U.S."

The report added that Iran ultimately decided to skip the talks due to excessive demands from the U.S. that went beyond the initial agreement framework, as well as hostile actions targeting the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Previously, Trump posted on his self-created social media platform Truth Social that the Iranian leadership and their negotiation team failed to present a unified negotiation proposal, thus extending the ceasefire until conditions for negotiations are matured.
