Kazakhstan International News Agency - According to the Kazakhstani embassy in China, within the framework of the Central Asia-China Civil Aviation Cooperation Mechanism Working Group meeting, the aviation authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China held talks.

In the talks, both sides discussed the operation of passenger and cargo flights between the two countries, the increase in the number of designated flight points, and other issues related to regular flight operations.

At the end of the talks, both sides signed a memorandum of understanding, which solidified the agreement to expand the air route network and develop bilateral air transport. Both sides agreed to add a new destination for Kazakh carriers - Yining City. The issue of flights to Kashgar City was also discussed during the talks.

It should be noted that cooperation between the two countries is expanding. Starting from 2025, the total number of approved flights between the two countries increased to 124 flights per week. At the same time, the designated airlines of both countries were authorized to operate flights using the fifth freedom right.

The "SCAT" airline has launched three new routes to China this year. For example, since May 29 this year, the Chimkent-Shanghai route was launched with 2 flights per week. In addition, routes from Chimkent to Xi'an and Urumqi were launched on July 2 and 4 respectively. The frequency of these flights is also 2 times per week.

Since July 4 this year, China Eastern Airlines has entered the transportation market of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The company operates the Almaty-Guangzhou route with 3 flights per week. China Eastern Airlines is one of the largest airlines in the world, with more than 800 aircraft.

Additionally, on August 13 this year, the C919 aircraft produced by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) made its first landing in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The aircraft operates the Urumqi-Karaganda-Urumqi route.

According to the results of the meeting, both sides confirmed their commitment to continue conducting constructive dialogue and implementing joint initiatives aimed at developing the aviation industry, expanding transportation accessibility, and strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and China.
