According to a May 10 report by Reuters, the leaders of the UK, France, Germany, and Poland arrived in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv on the local time of May 10, planning to hold talks with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy in order to demonstrate the "unity" among Western countries.
It was reported that this is the first joint visit to Ukraine by British Prime Minister Starmer, French President Macron, German Chancellor Scholz, and Polish Prime Minister Trusk. Starmer, Macron, and Scholz arrived in Kyiv on the same train, while Trusk arrived separately on another train.
The four leaders held a meeting in Rzeszów, a Polish city, on the evening of May 9. In a joint statement released by the four leaders, they said: "Together with the United States, we call on Russia to agree to a full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire to create space for negotiations toward a just and lasting peace."

The four leaders met before traveling to Kyiv, as shown on the social media account of Polish Prime Minister Trusk.
Just two days earlier, on May 8, former U.S. President Trump publicly called for a 30-day unconditional ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, warning that "violations of the ceasefire agreement will be subject to sanctions." Zelenskyy has already stated that Ukraine is ready to immediately implement the peace agreement.
Reuters also cited a French source as saying that the talks held by the four leaders with Zelenskyy will discuss the issue of a 30-day ceasefire proposed by the U.S. and Europe. The source also stated that if Russia refuses the ceasefire agreement, the U.S. and Europe will jointly impose new sanctions on Russia, although the details of these steps have not been fully determined.
According to TASS reports, Russian presidential press secretary Peskov said that Russia supports a 30-day ceasefire, but the ceasefire plan must fully take into account the "delicate aspects" of the conflict. Russia has previously emphasized multiple times that establishing mechanisms to supervise and maintain the ceasefire is a prerequisite for achieving long-term cessation of hostilities.
