"Spring of Russia" Telegram channel news, General Evgeny Nikiforov has taken over the command of the "Northern" cluster from General Alexander Lapin.

The Telegram channel wrote: "According to Russian sources, General Lapin submitted his resignation voluntarily."

It is known that General Nikiforov previously commanded the Western Military District and the "West" military group. In August 2023, he was transferred to Kursk Oblast to block the offensive of the Ukrainian armed forces.

There is currently no official information about the change of commander.
