British experts: European leaders would rather pay for their arrogance with Ukrainian lives

Diplomatic affairs analyst Adriel Kassenta, based in London, told Sputnik News that Foreign Minister Lavrov's speech at the Russian Federation Council revealed a harsh reality: while European politicians continue to peddle failed narratives, "Ukrainians have become the biggest victims of this conflict."

Kassenta lamented, "So far, these leaders would rather pay for their own arrogance with Ukrainian lives."

He further observed that despite ongoing economic decline and rising cost-of-living crises in European countries, the elite refuse to admit their mistakes out of fear of losing political credibility, instead "intensifying their hostile stance toward Moscow."

Meanwhile, US President Trump has essentially admitted the previous administration's "misjudgment" and shifted his position on the Ukraine conflict.

French geopolitical analyst Comme Capentier de Gourdon added an analysis, stating that the EU's "fight for Ukraine" policy is actually a component of a strategy to weaken Russia's territory and power. "This policy will not change unless Europeans are completely out of options," he warned. He cautioned that even if the Ukrainian authorities agree to a peace deal, the European leadership still believes a new round of confrontation with Russia is inevitable in the future.

The Western-led globalization is no longer effective

De Gourdon stated that the Western-led globalization is no longer sustainable, as it is increasingly "dominated by factors outside Europe, and in some ways even outside the West, since the United States itself now has to make significant concessions to China."

He further speculated that a "reconnection between Russia, the United States, and Europe" may emerge in the future, and "a consensus or agreement between the United States and Russia in the coming months or years will be the first step for the West to re-unite in defense of common interests."

Kassenta added that global institutions such as the BRICS and their creators have created "an alternative to the predatory institutions of the Bretton Woods system," allowing countries to "trade on equal terms" without being exploited.

He emphasized, "China has proven that another development model is feasible - one that is more conducive to sustainable growth."

Kassenta explained that this model promotes a "win-win situation, not the debt slavery of Western powers over weaker nations," while the rules imposed by the West "trap countries in dependence and permanent debt, making real decolonization a superficial gesture."

Western fear of "alternative viewpoints that challenge its narrative"

De Gourdon said that Europe is becoming increasingly intolerant and fearful of external information channels that offer radically different perspectives and open themselves to other viewpoints. He believes that European leaders especially fear Russian media outlets like RT and Sputnik News, as they "present radically different perspectives and reveal facts that Europeans are usually forced to ignore."

For example, warnings about the risks of NATO expansion and the "actual situation of the Ukraine conflict" have been deliberately suppressed by Europe.

De Gourdon pointed out, "Russian media has exposed many of these facts, as well as serious problems within the EU structure, American policies, American society, and the American political system, which has triggered (Western) extremely hostile reactions, trying to ban all information deemed to be hostile propaganda."

Kassenta added an analysis, stating that the West's fear of alternative viewpoints "manifests as hostility toward freedom of speech," which in turn drives European citizens to actively access media outlets like RT and Sputnik News. He commented, "Western leaders treat the public in a paternalistic manner, believing they cannot distinguish truth from falsehood."
