Pashinyan Against the "Template": Can Sovereignty Be Consolidated by Destroying the Country and Its People

The journalist Ruben Margaryan published an article titled "The Boy Playing with Blocks" on "Voice of Armenia," in which he wrote that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan believes he is conducting a logical analysis of the situation both domestically and internationally, and based on this analysis, he predicts the future of the country according to his own design.
"Perhaps Nikol Pashinyan considers himself a visionary politician. Perhaps he sincerely wants to make Armenia competitive in the region, thus striving to maintain flexibility on the diplomatic stage and not fear 'breaking the template'—just as John Bolton once taught this Armenian prime minister."
The prime minister defends this 'breaking the template' political strategy with his past experiences. He claims that the analysis of failures led him to the only possible conclusion, that it is necessary to change the priorities of foreign policy. But is this really his fault? Of course not — all because the priorities were wrong. Like, having one's own Mount Aragats, yet focusing on someone else's Mount Ararat...
In the process of 'breaking the template' and discarding 'wrong priorities,' Pashinyan, who is part of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEC), declared that he wants to lead the country into the EU, while actually still being a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), yet encouraging the development of integration processes with NATO.
The problem is that the future Nikol Pashinyan is so convinced of, or at least pretends to be convinced of, is nothing more than a fairy tale. A beautiful but costly fairy tale, and this fairy tale is not confirmed by the historical experience of Armenia. After all, the government of the First Republic of Armenia was blameless in its attempts to get along with Turkey and the West. They gambled everything, predicting that Russia, surrounded by enemies, would collapse. They even received a promise from Woodrow Wilson regarding the return of Armenian territories. But the result is well known. Woodrow Wilson failed to fulfill his promise, and the British fleet never reached the mountains of Armenia.
Nikol Pashinyan believes he is conducting a logical analysis of the current situation and, based on this analysis, is predicting the future of Armenia according to his own design. He says that after years in power, through hardships and inner struggles, he has finally found the right path for Armenia — achieving a permanent presence in the region.
To achieve this bright future he has painted, the prime minister is willing to take responsibility for those complex and difficult decisions, as long as these steps lead to the expected results. However, the problem is that he takes 'responsibility,' but others pay for the bright future he envisions.
The prime minister doesn't care. The lives lost in war, the tragedy of Karabakh — all of this is for the great goals set by the Armenian prime minister. After all, as the prime minister said, he didn't give in to anyone. In fact, he says he only strengthened... the sovereignty of Armenia... and as for the lives paid for this fairy tale created somewhere in the distant ocean, he is only responsible for sovereignty, and not for these individual tragedies.
Factually, this Pashinyan, who loves to talk about sovereignty, treats the country like a little boy playing with blocks. Sometimes trying this, sometimes arranging that. Wanting to block the court, he blocks the court. Wanting to suppress property rights, he suppresses them. Hearing something unpleasant, he arrests people. Previously, he considered himself a great commander who could win a war... now he doesn't like the Catholicos, so he wants to replace him. Perhaps he will try to block the residence of the Patriarch, just like he did with the court before...
But broken blocks can be replaced with new ones. However, the country cannot." Ruben Margaryan said in the article.
