Media: Nine U.S. Navy Warships Have Been Equipped with Laser Systems

According to a source quoted by the War Zone website, the U.S. Navy has already equipped nine vessels with laser systems.

The website reported: "The U.S. Navy has deployed directed energy systems on nine vessels."

The site noted that the official declined to discuss operational details and did not answer questions about whether these systems had been used in operations against Iran.

The report also clarified that most of these vessels are fitted with low-power lasers, designed to blind or disable enemy electronic-optical devices, cameras, and sensors.

The website added that only the destroyer USS Preble is equipped with a 60-kilowatt laser system, capable of shooting down small drones and damaging the hulls of high-speed speedboats.

Previously, the United States and Israel began striking targets inside Iran on February 28, resulting in over 3,000 casualties. On April 8, Washington and Tehran announced a ceasefire, after which negotiations held in Islamabad ended without results. There has been no news of renewed hostilities so far, but the U.S. has begun blockading Iranian ports. Mediators are currently attempting to organize a new round of talks.
