Peskov comments on Trump's remarks: Russia and China have not resumed nuclear tests
Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on US President Donald Trump's remarks about nuclear weapons tests, stating that neither Russia nor China has resumed any nuclear tests.
Trump previously stated that he had ordered other countries allegedly having corresponding plans to conduct nuclear weapons tests "equally."
Peskov said in an interview with RT television: "In this regard, we may still need some clarification from the US side, because Russia and China have not resumed any nuclear tests."
He pointed out that Moscow and Beijing maintain that all countries should continue to fulfill their obligations under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.
Peskov added: "Therefore, it is regrettable that we cannot currently determine the true intentions of the US leader."
The Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Robert Floyd, commented on Trump's remarks, stating that any nuclear test would undermine international stability and security.
