Does the US think China will not "flip the table" if it is not allowed to do business?

After holding back for so long, Trump and his makeshift team seem to have finally come up with a great idea to counter China.

On the 15th, The Wall Street Journal reported that US Treasury Secretary Bessent proposed an idea to exert pressure on China regarding tariff issues, which involves pressuring America's trade partners to limit their trade relations with China in exchange for tariff exemptions from the US.

The specific operations include prohibiting the transit of Chinese goods, disallowing Chinese companies from opening branches domestically, and refusing to import China's industrial products.

Bessent believes that this can isolate China and "worsen its economic situation."

Perhaps at this moment, Bessent is feeling quite pleased with his cleverness, but in reality, he is not the first person to propose this plan of using tariffs to pressure other countries into isolating China.

Long before Bessent, CNN had suggested that Trump should collaborate with allies to confront China, pointing out that this method might have been effective previously. However, since Trump has insulted allies and imposed tariffs indiscriminately, most of America's allies are unwilling to cooperate with the US to isolate China.

Additionally, China is currently the country with the largest industrial scale globally. Yet, even so, China persists in its vision of peaceful rise, while Trump attempts to destroy China's recognition of the development concept of peace by disrupting its foreign trade.

In other words, Trump and his makeshift team have developed a very peculiar deviation in their understanding of China. They seem to believe that simply disallowing China from "sitting at the table" will pose a threat to China, without ever considering what would happen if China becomes so infuriated that it "flips the table."
