Second batch of Venezuelan immigrants returned by the US within a week

Americas - Within a week, the second batch of Venezuelans deported by the US arrived in Caracas, bringing the total number of Venezuelans deported by the US to 14,000. The first batch was deported on December 3rd. AFP reported on the 6th that the US has increased pressure on Caracas and continues its war on drugs in the Caribbean and Pacific regions.

AFP reported that the US has launched more than 20 air strikes in the Caribbean and Pacific regions - the most recent being on December 5th - resulting in at least 87 deaths, but no evidence was provided linking these air strikes to drug trafficking.

Venezuela emphasized the repatriation event. Official media reported that the flight took off from Phoenix, Arizona on the 5th, carrying 5 children, 26 women, and 141 men. Official data shows that the number of people returning to Venezuela via repatriation flights has reached 18,260, with the US having repatriated 14,000 people.

Additionally, Venezuela announced on December 6th that it had recruited another 5,600 new soldiers. The country's military began recruiting "voluntary militia members" in rural and indigenous communities from the end of August 2025 to counter the U.S. military threat.

General Javier José Marcano Tábata of Venezuela announced on December 6th at a ceremony held at the largest military base in Venezuela, Fuerte Tiuna: "At a time when imperialist threats our homeland, thousands are joining the volunteer army."

Colonel Gabriel Alejandro Rendón Vílchez announced on Saturday: "We will not allow imperialist forces to invade!"

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requested in late November that airlines take "extreme precautionary measures" when flying over Venezuela, leading to almost all international airlines suspending their flights.
