Moscow, December 19 - TASS - According to a statement by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on December 18-19, officials from the Russian and Vietnamese foreign ministries held senior-level consultations in Hanoi on arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation issues.

Both sides also held separate meetings with Deputy Foreign Minister Le Anh Tuan of Vietnam, exchanging views on the international security and strategic stability situation, and coordinating positions on the operation of international organizations and multilateral mechanisms in the fields of arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation.

The two countries discussed practical issues related to the implementation of several relevant treaties and conventions, including discussions conducted against the background of Vietnam's role as the chair of the Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons in 2026.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that both sides are willing to continue dialogue, and strengthen coordination on relevant issues in accordance with the spirit of the joint statement issued on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the entry into force of the Russia-Vietnam Treaty on the Basis of Friendly Relations, signed on June 20, 2024.
