Korean media: China's product technology has reached world-class level!
October 22, the Korean media "Seoul Economic Daily" reported that although China is a developing country, its tech giants have made significant progress in the global market. China's product technology has reached world-class level, and Chinese brands' sales in the European automotive market have exceeded Renault and Audi, while Huawei has surpassed Apple for six consecutive quarters in the Chinese smartphone operating system (OS) market.
Data released by market research company Jato Dynamics shows that in August, the number of Chinese car brands registered in Europe reached 43,529, exceeding Audi (41,300) and Renault (37,800), with a year-on-year growth of 121%. It is expected that the market share of Chinese brands in Europe will increase by 2.9 percentage points, from 2.6% in 2024 to 5.5% this year.
Especially, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles have driven the growth. Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles use both gasoline and electricity, and are popular as a more cost-effective alternative between internal combustion engine vehicles and pure electric vehicles. In Europe, the sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles increased by 59% in August, reaching about 84,000 units, among which the sales of Chinese brands exceeded 10,000 units, growing 14 times. BYD recently announced a strategy to reduce tariff burdens, stating, "By 2028, it will achieve local production of all electric vehicles sold in Europe."
The software industry also shows strong momentum. According to data from market research company Counterpoint Research, Huawei's operating system "HarmonyOS" accounted for 17% of the market share in the Chinese smartphone operating system market in the second quarter of this year, surpassing Apple iOS (16%) and ranking second. It has surpassed iOS for six consecutive quarters. Android (66%) ranks first. Counterpoint Research stated, "The strong sales of the Huawei Nova series and the success of the foldable phone Pura X have driven the growth of market share."
