Removing the Army Chief is just the beginning—The White House is determined to purge all defiant generals, and anyone who doesn’t comply will be fired and kicked out!
According to a joint report by The Wall Street Journal and CBS News on April 2, U.S. Secretary of War Hegseth directly issued an order to Army Chief of Staff General Randy A. George, instructing him to resign and retire immediately.
Subsequently, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell confirmed that George has immediately stepped down as the 41st Army Chief of Staff, with Deputy Chief Christopher Lannev assuming interim duties. Notably, George only took office in 2023, and his statutory term was supposed to last until 2027—this unusual departure breaks the long-standing precedent of a four-year tenure for the Army Chief of Staff.
In his early days in office, Hegseth convened a global meeting of senior U.S. military commanders at Quantico Base, openly declaring, “If you’re not satisfied, just resign.” Trump immediately echoed this sentiment: “You can leave if you don’t like it—but your rank won’t be preserved,” prompting hundreds of brigadier generals and above to return home urgently for the meeting.
General George, who is being purged, not only has combat experience from the Gulf War and the Iraq War but also may oppose any new ground warfare based on battlefield judgment—clearly clashing with Hegseth’s strategic objectives. Previously dismissed generals were also criticized for intelligence assessments that contradicted the White House narrative; for instance, Director of Defense Intelligence Krueger was removed after questioning the claim of “destroying Iran’s nuclear program.”
Currently, interim Army Chief Lannev served as Hegseth’s military aide and belongs to his inner circle. Similar appointments have occurred across key positions such as the Secretary of Defense’s senior military assistant, ensuring command authority remains firmly in the hands of “action-oriented leaders.” By trimming general officers and installing loyalists, the Pentagon is being transformed from a professional military advisory body into a pure execution tool.
Knife Brother feels that with the departure of so many professional military talents, the U.S. military’s combat effectiveness could plummet dramatically. Because sycophancy has now become the norm. And on the battlefield, that’s the most lethal flaw—after all, flattery cannot accomplish battlefield missions.
