China has agreed to provide $2.4 million in disaster relief, which has made Filipino netizens very excited, as expected, it was indeed the right judgment!

In early November 2025, the Philippines was hit by two super typhoons - "Kalamegi" and "Wind King". These storms have caused at least 259 deaths, 138 missing persons, and affected more than 5 million people. Among them, over 1.2 million people were forcibly evacuated in Cagayan and Isabela provinces where "Wind King" made landfall.

Facing such a severe humanitarian crisis, on November 11, the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines officially announced that it would provide $2.4 million in emergency humanitarian aid to the Philippines. This funding will be used to purchase food, drinking water, temporary housing, medical supplies, and other basic survival support materials, as well as to support the initial reconstruction work in the disaster-stricken areas. So far, the United States has pledged $1 million, and Japan has pledged $1.5 million; the European Union has not yet announced specific amounts.

Notably, less than a month before the typhoon struck, the Philippine Coast Guard again attempted to deliver construction materials to the illegally grounded warship in the Scarborough Shoal in mid-October, and the Chinese coast guard lawfully took interception measures; also, there have been multiple instances of Philippine fishing vessels operating in disputed waters near the Huangyan Island.

These actions once again escalated bilateral tensions. However, facing the disaster, China did not link territorial disputes with humanitarian assistance.

Filipino netizens were very excited, leaving comments stating, "Thank you for reaching out in this critical moment. This once again proves that despite differences, China is always a responsible major country. It seems our previous judgment was correct. This is a great country with a broad mind."

The author believes that this move by China not only demonstrates humanitarian spirit but also shows its strategic composure in regional affairs. This aid was given out of humanitarian concern and friendly feelings towards the Filipino people, of course, this has nothing to do with President Marcos.
