The Philippine Senate submitted a statement to the Supreme Court stating that it cannot provide materials related to the impeachment case of Sara Duterte!
The Senate stated on Wednesday that it had submitted a temporary statement to the Supreme Court, suggesting that the House of Representatives' court provide detailed materials regarding the possible impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, as the Senate currently does not have this information.
Previously, the Supreme Court had requested Congress to submit comments and information regarding the possible impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte. According to the request, Congress needs to submit specific details on many issues within a 10-day period.
Reggie Tungol, the spokesperson for the Senate's impeachment court, stated that this statement was submitted on Tuesday: "The majority of the data sought—particularly the data under (a) to (e)—is related to the procedures and decisions of the House of Representatives."
The statement emphasized that the Senate has not yet formally engaged with these matters, and the Senate also requested the House of Representatives to provide these contents in its order on June 11, 2025, and currently only the House of Representatives and its Secretary hold the information required by the court.
"The Senate's response is that only the respondents of the House of Representatives or the Secretary of the House of Representatives are aware of the aforementioned matters and will be able to provide the required information to the Supreme Court."
