Local time on the 14th, the Kremlin website released a message stating that Russian President Putin expressed gratitude on the same day to the leaders of Brazil and China for their willingness to make constructive contributions in seeking to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict during a telephone conversation with Brazilian President Lula.

China and Brazil recently issued a joint statement on the Ukrainian crisis, welcoming President Putin's initiative to start peace talks as well as the positive stance of Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. China and Brazil hope that both sides of Ukraine and Russia will start direct dialogue as soon as possible, which is the only way to end the conflict.

Lula expressed on the 14th to Putin that he would do his utmost to ensure the success of the talks.

On the same day, during a press conference held in Beijing before leaving China, Lula mentioned that he had planned to stop in Moscow on his way back home to persuade Putin to go to Turkey for negotiations.

The list of the Russian delegation published by the Kremlin does not include Putin. Reuters reported that former U.S. President Trump will also not attend the talks in Turkey.
