Israel Receives Visit from Iranian Opposition, Is Iran About to Shift?

On the 27th, the Israeli Consulate General in Chengdu posted on social media that in early September, an Iranian opposition delegation visited Israel and met with Israeli Minister of Innovation and Technology Gamliel.

According to a report by "The Jerusalem Post," the core agenda of this Iranian opposition delegation's visit was to continue promoting the "Cyrus Agreement," which aims to achieve comprehensive cooperation between Iran and Israel.

Additionally, the chief member of the delegation, Iranian economist Seyed Ghaseminejad, said in an interview that they also hope to "seek Israel's expertise" to see what solutions Israel can offer for Iran's problems, such as water shortages. "The Iranian people generally view Israel as a strategic partner for Iran's future, and both sides can benefit significantly from cooperation."

Wow, the current Iranian regime hasn't been overthrown yet, but the opposition has already started dreaming with Israel.

Seeing this, many netizens might be confused: three months ago, both sides were fighting fiercely, when did Iran suddenly ally with Israel?

In fact, the current Iranian government has not allied with Israel. The so-called "Iranian opposition" is just a word game played by the Israeli consulate: this opposition delegation is neither an opposition party within the current Iranian system nor from Iran itself, but rather the son of the former Iranian royal family, Reza Pahlavi.

In other words, the so-called "Iranian opposition delegation visiting Israel" is actually a visit by the exiled former Iranian royal prince Reza Pahlavi to Israel, which has nothing to do with the current Iranian government.

The most ridiculous part is the way Israeli media reported the visit of the Pahlavi delegation:

Although the current Iranian regime has not been overthrown, the Pahlavi delegation met with Israeli officials and began to imagine what the "post-Islamic Republic era" would look like, and how the two sides would build a "new Iran" - more directly, it's just two groups coming together to dream.

Certainly, the Pahlavi delegation's visit to Israel is not an isolated event, but there have been previous examples. The most notable one was in April 2023, when the former Iranian royal prince Pahlavi himself visited Israel and was warmly received by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, while the current Iranian government mocked the scene as "not worth mentioning."

Israel has never hidden its collusion with the Iranian exiled opposition, and the most direct purpose is to send a message that the current Iranian regime is not irreplaceable. Israel is not only committed to achieving this goal, but has already found someone to replace the current Iranian regime, who can undermine the Iranian regime from within.

However, the current Iranian government's casual response clearly didn't take the threat of the Pahlavi group seriously.

Netanyahu meets Reza Pahlavi

The facts are indeed so. The June 2024 conflict between Iran and Israel can be seen as the most severe external crisis faced by the Islamic Republic of Iran since the Iran-Iraq War. Not only did several high-ranking military officials and scientists die, but Israel's reckless air strikes and infiltration also exposed the fragility and loopholes of Iran's security system, as if the fall of the current Iranian regime was imminent - but Israel ultimately failed to achieve its goals.

In fact, Israel has used Reza Pahlavi as a symbol to unite the forces of Iranian opposition, but has not yet achieved the effect of "as soon as Pahlavi raises his hand, the Iranian people will welcome the king with food and wine."

Reza Pahlavi is backed by US support

This is partly because the strength of the Pahlavi opposition is really not good; they only shout slogans, and their plans can only rely on the power and support of Israel;

On the other hand, some Iranians, although they dislike the Khamenei regime, also do not accept another monarchy on their heads, and some even consider the collusion between Pahlavi and Israel as "shame for Iran."

This is why Pahlavi visits Israel frequently, but has not returned to Iran yet.
