Russian media attention: BYD outperformed Tesla 12 times in early April!
On April 14, multiple Russian media outlets published articles.
The American car manufacturer Tesla has rapidly lost its position in the Chinese electric vehicle market.
According to the latest data, at the beginning of April, Tesla's sales were 12.5 times lower than the leader BYD. In weekly rankings, Tesla barely entered the top ten.
It is worth noting that Tesla's demand decreased by 5 times compared to the end of March, which may be related to irregular supply. However, even considering seasonal fluctuations, Tesla's competition with BYD looks hopeless.
The Chinese electric vehicle market continues to grow (year-on-year +5%), but Tesla obviously lost to local players. Following this trend, the American brand may eventually exit the top ten, making way for more aggressive competitors.
However, until the weekly sales rankings in April are based on insurance data, such statistics are not universally recognized.
According to reports by Sina News, BYD's pure electric vehicle sales in the first quarter reached 416,400 units, an increase of 38.74% year-on-year; Tesla's sales were 336,700 units, with a year-on-year decline of 13%.
According to Bloomberg reports, BYD's sales grew significantly in Europe, while Tesla's sales declined sharply.
