A military exhibition site outside Kyiv was attacked, resulting in the death of a senior Ukrainian special forces officer.

Ukrainian media reported, citing acquaintances, that Colonel Edward Sylenko had died, with reports indicating he was affiliated with either the Security Service of Ukraine or the Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.

Public records show he previously served as head of the Special Operations Center Administration within the Security Service of Ukraine and had combat experience in Iraq.

In 2018, Sylenko was arrested on suspicion of organizing a criminal gang and extortion; the trial for this case continued until the outbreak of war, and it is highly likely the charges will be dropped thereafter.
