Russian Foreign Ministry: The U.S. Has Not Yet Extended an Invitation to Putin for the G20 Summit

Marat Berdyaev, Russia's Permanent Representative for G20 and APEC affairs, said in an interview with Sputnik News that Russia has not received any information regarding an invitation from the United States for President Vladimir Putin to attend the G20 Summit.

Commenting on the matter, Berdyaev stated: "Following G20 tradition, such invitations are typically issued close to the summit date—approximately 1 to 1.5 months in advance."

He revealed that these G20 invitations serve a ceremonial function.

"Their purpose is to document leaders’ activities on their international agendas," he said.

The G20 Summit will take place in Miami on December 14–15.
