Foreign Media: Chinese engineers have successfully developed a pistol-sized miniature traveling wave tube (TWT) in a defense laboratory in Beijing, which will become the core of China's advanced radar and electronic warfare systems.

This innovative vacuum tube can amplify microwave pulses from 8 to 18 gigahertz (GHz), with an output power exceeding 500 watts, a performance that previously only larger devices could achieve. The traveling wave tube is only 20 millimeters (about 0.8 inches) high, less than half the thickness of Western counterparts of similar products, while also improving performance.

This breakthrough overcomes the problem of traditional traveling wave tubes being too large to integrate into next-generation phased array systems such as aircraft, satellites, and stealth platforms, highlighting China's significant progress in military electronics through micro-level optimization.
