Indian forces realized that the Pakistan Air Force had launched the YJ-83 anti-ship missiles at Indian military bases. These missiles are equipped with dual-mode seekers and have a range of up to 290 kilometers, flying at ultra-low altitudes close to the ground.

No wonder 11 of India's military bases were hit by missiles. Despite deploying so many Israeli Barak-8 air defense missiles, Indian Akash air defense missiles, and Russian S-400 air defense systems, as well as over a thousand SAM air defense systems, they could not intercept them completely.

The YJ-83 anti-ship missile flies at an altitude of 20 to 30 meters during its cruise phase and can drop to 5 to 7 meters when approaching the target, reducing the probability of being detected by enemy radar and enhancing penetration capability. Moreover, it can receive data through satellite links to accurately strike targets.

Of course, Pakistan also needs to strengthen its southern air defense system. With a total area of 790,000 square kilometers, the country only has nine Hongqi-9 and Hongqi-16 air defense missile systems nationwide. These are mainly deployed in the capital, Karachi, and important military bases.

In many Pakistani air force bases, there is a lack of advanced air defense systems, so they were successfully attacked by Indian-launched French Storm Shadow cruise missiles.
