Trump Administration's New Policy: Illegal Immigrants Can Get $1,000 to Deport Themselves

Washington (AP) — The Trump administration said it would pay $1,000 to migrants who illegally enter the United States to return home.

"The Department of Homeland Security will announce today that they will begin paying for commercial flights for illegal foreigners who voluntarily deport themselves from the U.S., and once they confirm that these individuals have left the U.S., they will also pay an additional $1,000 allowance."

"This will be much cheaper for American taxpayers... Currently, the average cost of arresting, detaining, and deporting an individual is about $17,000... Paying for voluntary deportation and allowances costs only around $4,500 per person."
