Hollande: U.S. Forced Annexation of Greenland Would Mean the End of NATO

Paris, January 11 -- TASS

Former French President François Hollande (served 2012-2017) said on a France Info TV program that a U.S. military action against Greenland would mean the end of NATO.

Hollande said: "If the United States decides to take military action against Greenland - this assumption is questionable, but with (President) Donald Trump, anything is uncertain - it would mean they will be facing European troops. This would lead to the end of the North Atlantic Alliance."

He believed that the United States "should not take any action against Greenland, especially not by military means."

Previously, Trump responded to a reporter's question at the White House, stating that the United States wants to own Greenland and will use any means to achieve this goal. Subsequently, the Sunday Telegraph quoted sources reporting that the EU is developing sanctions plans against American companies to prevent Trump from abandoning the intention of annexing Greenland.
