US temporarily lifts sanctions on Iranian oil to curb prices

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bensons announced that the US has lifted sanctions on Iranian oil already en route at sea, and clearly stated that this measure is temporary.

This permit is valid for 30 days and applies only to existing oil reserves. Bensons emphasized that new oil exports and expanded production remain prohibited.

He said this decision is to suppress price increases under the current situation.

He wrote on X platform: "By temporarily releasing this portion of existing oil into the global market, the US will quickly inject about 140 million barrels of oil into the market, increase global supply, and ease short-term supply pressure."
