Source: The prospects of US-Iran dialogue are uncertain, lack of mutual trust is the key challenge

Sputnik News, Tehran, February 6 - Iranian sources told Sputnik that the outcome of the upcoming nuclear issue negotiations between the United States and Iran is difficult to predict, and Tehran's lack of trust in Washington is the main challenge facing the dialogue.

The source said: "Although due to the complexity of the situation and the unclear actions of the United States, it is difficult to predict the outcome of the Iran-US negotiations, the lack of trust in the United States remains the main challenge, especially after the following events, during the Muscat talks, the United States and Israel took hostile military actions against Iran, these actions deepened the trust gap and significantly increased Iran's vigilance."

On February 6, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and U.S. President's special envoy Steve Wiznitzer will begin negotiations to resolve existing differences between Tehran and Washington regarding Iran's nuclear program. According to Tehran, this meeting will be held in the capital of Oman, Muscat.

Previously, U.S. President Trump stated that a U.S. Navy "task force" is heading towards the Gulf region to continue pressuring Iran. He mentioned that in June 2025, the U.S. struck Iran's nuclear facilities in the "Night Hammer" operation. Trump said, "The next strike will be more severe," and urged "do not let this happen."
